Today at noon,  the Women’s Center held a press conference in the Talley Student Center Lobby to announce that NC State has decided to declare October Domestic Violence Awareness month on campus. Juliette Grimmett, Assistant Director of the Women’s Center was on hand to discuss support services available on campus for survivors. Students from The Movement, which is a group of students activists and peer education leaders discussed the importance of their work and emphasized the need for the campus to come together and end domestic violence on campus.

One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.  32% of college students report dating violence by a previous partner.  21% of college students report dating violence by a current partner. Although on a test these percentages seem low, in reality, they are high.
