Joelle Purifoy, Joseph McRae and Germanee Gerald share their thoughts on fashion, while sporting these fabulous looks.
Q: What are some of your favorite fall ‘13 trends?
Joelle: Chambray and denim are still in, and i think more muted colors are what i tend to fall toward… i love a nice Chelsea or riding boot and good quality denim.
Germanee: Right now I would say girls taking ideas from guys closets and incorporating those looks into their wardrobes. Also black and white, denim, oxblood, colbat, mustard-yellow, jewel tones and white are really big right now.
Q: How do you feel about the lack of diversity on the runway?
Joelle: There are very few top designers using models of color during Fashion Week nowadays, and a lot of them that do use Black models in particular, are only using one or two as tokens and calling it “diversity.”

Q: How do you decide what to wear during the week/ where do you grab inspiration?
Joseph: When I get up in the morning, I put on whatever makes me feel good. Some days I like to do somethng a little more avant-garde than ususal, but most of the time it’s just a button up and a nice pair of shorts.
Q: What is your fashion advice for freshmen?
Germanee: Do incorporate leather and lipstick that matches your skin tone .Don’t wear track-shorts, ugh…I hate it. T-shirts and track-shorts everyday are unacceptable.
